Mid 18th Century English George II Mahogany Lowboy
A Very Fine Mid 18th Century Mahogany Lowboy with Excellent Colour and Proportions.
This lowboy is of superb proportions with a single long drawer and two smaller drawers beneath. The kneehole is beautifully shaped, as are the cabriole legs which have a particularly attractive arc to them. This piece dates to mid 18th century. It has a moulded, overhanging top and shaped pad feet, having wonderfully figured veneers used for the drawer fronts and the top. The top has been quarter veneered and then widely crossbanded and the colour and patination of the top is truly outstanding. The original plate handles are of excellent quality and retain a fine colour of their own.
An exceptional example of its kind and has a glorious colour and patination. This came from a private collection, possibly a good investment.
