19th Century Regency Gilt Convex Mirror
The mirror of typical convex form but retaining much of the original gilding and a charming worn surface. The outer moulding is carved with flowers or fruit in the centre of each “side” and this is probably meant to symbolise cornucopias or horns of plenty, symbols of good luck and prosperity for the owners of the piece. The inner slip on the mirror is ebonised providing an interesting contrast with the burnished gilding.
