18th Century French Gilded Mirror
A Fine French Louis XVI Period Giltwood Mirror with Emblems of Love.
This lovely mirror, dating to the late 18th century, is rectangular in outline with a single, original, plate and retains its beautiful, original soft gilded finish.
The cresting on this mirror is extremely well carved and the symbolism of the various elements refers to the triumph of love. Two billing doves sit upon Cupid's quiver of arrows and the laurel wreath behind them signifies their victory.
This is an extremely attractive example of French neoclassicism and we are delighted to offer it for sale.
