Pair of 19th Century Italian Walnut Bookcases
A Pair of Early 19th Century Italian Walnut Glazed Bookcases or Display Cabinets.
Made in Italy in the early 19th century, these bookcases are glazed to the top and bottom sections, making them perfect for display, as well as for the storage of books. They are of architectural inspiration, the pilasters being columnar in form with leafy capitals at the top. Constructed in highly figured walnut of a mellow colour and the internal backboards are also in walnut.
The top section of each bookcase features four shelves, and a single shelf being fitted in each lower section. The bookcases are relatively shallow in depth and are a good and very usable size.
Each bookcase is made in two pieces.
