A Pair of Late 18th Century Italian Armchairs with Original Paint and Gilding.
These sophisticated, elegant chairs retain their original creamy white and gilt decorative paint scheme which has survived in excellent condition. They are inspired by the Louis XVI models that took Europe by storm, inspiring craftspeople to create their own pieces based on the French examples. The backs and back legs have a subtle rake, which is a lovely feature. The chairs stand on four turned and fluted legs with toupie toes.
