A large and majestic pair of low and deep 18th Century Italian armchairs with exceptionally carved giltwood on over-scaled frames. Having wide backs and padded seats upholstered in dramatic and colourful silk velvet pinstripe fabric with braid trim. The arms and legs are decorated with scrolled carvings and acanthus leaves.
