An Unusual 18th Century English Oak Cabinet on Stand
Made around the middle of the 18th century in England, this cabinet is of tall and narrow form with panelled cupboard doors. The top of the cabinet has a moulded, overhanging cornice. The cabinet section is supported on a low stand with chamfered legs and carved front apron. Inside the cupboard has a series of three shelves and the doors are supported on wrought iron hinges.
Retaining its wonderful colour and patination. Its unusual proportions make it a very interesting piece and it was probably made by the estate cabinetmaker at one of the many important stately homes of the period. It would fit nicely into a contemporary setting.
