Pair of 19th Century French Painted Armchairs

A Decorative Pair of 19th Century French Upholstered Armchairs with Original Green Paint and Carved Detailing.
These armchairs, in the Louis XVI manner but later in date, are of relatively large scale. The backs are of plain rectangular form with a pronounced central curve, as are the arms, and the frames here consist of rodded details, tied together with ribbons. The seat frames are carved and painted, like the upper frame, in a shade of sage green. The back legs are raked and plain, the rest of the frames are delicately ornamented with carved details. The frieze of each chair has a small central moulding, combined on the front rail with a band of fine leaf carving underneath. The front legs have acanthus leaf capitals and are fluted and have collared toes. The corner blocks are ornamented with finely carved floral paterae. In the centre of the front rail is a carved floral ornament.
Upholstered to an under finish, ready for top fabric or to be left as they are.
