Pair of French Ebonised Armchairs
A pair of French Empire style ebonised armchairs with fine eagle head mounts.
These fine armchairs, in the early 19th century Empire style, were made in France c.1910. The ebonised finish contrasts beautifully with the fine ormolu mounts, including acanthus leaf designs, hoof feet, round paterae and, most striking of all, chased eagles' heads to the ends of the arms. The quality of the mounts indicates that these chairs were produced by an important workshop of the period. The chairs are ready to be upholstered.
