Pair of 20th Century Carved Armchairs
SOLD
A pair of unique, late 20th Century armchairs, possibly Asian. The large, sturdy and comfortable armchairs are very unusual, and carved with elaborate details which catch the eye and have plenty of character. The arms are of human form, gripping dagger-like arm supports. The curved top rails and back frame are adorned with rosettes, flanked by bearded faces wearing turbans. Having very large seats with loose seat pads. The backs are heavily carved with upturned bluebells and a central scene depicting an animal launching itself at a maiden form. Standing on large, chunky legs with lion paw feet all facing the same way.
They are a wonderful conversation piece, somewhat throne like, and have the most unusual and imaginative carvings. We are not sure of their origin and have never seen anything like them before.
There is also a single one of these available.
