18th Century French Louis XVI Period Walnut Commode
An 18th Century French Louis XVI Period Walnut Commode with Three Drawers.
The commode is of rectangular form with an overhanging top. The top with wide crossbanding and three panels of curly veneers surrounded with wide contrasting borders. The three drawer fronts treated in the same way and retaining their original finely cast ormolu neoclassical handles and escutcheons. The sides of the piece also feature inlaid panel-type decoration. It stands on tapering square section spade toes.
Having a fine colour and excellent quality veneers have been used throughout.
