Anglo-Chinese Teak Travelling Chest

A Very Fine Anglo-Chinese Teak Travelling Chest Made for Leonce Routh, Veteran Soldier and Deputy Commissary General of Bermuda c.1845.
Provenance:
Made for Leonce Routh Esq., (1820-1905) when he was Deputy Commissary General. Upon his death in 1905 it was given to Amand Jules Mcconnel Routh MD, b.1853 d.18 December 1927 by his four cousins.
Made of quality teak of excellent colour and figure, this chest is heavily bound with wrought iron strapwork mounts and corner pieces. Attached to the piece, which is of particularly large size, are two brass plaques which record the information mentioned in the provenance section above.
