Pair of 19th Century French Walnut Commodes
SOLD
An Interesting and Attractive Pair of French 19th Century Walnut Commodes.
The commodes of broadly rectangular form but with outset front corners incorporating flattened columns and architectural detailing and terminating in squared toupie feet. The tops of the commodes are faded and mellow in colour with wide crossbanding, whilst the drawer fronts are spectacular examples of bookmatched veneers.
There are many different mouldings used to soften the severe angles and the floral handles also help in this regard. Pairs of commodes are very useful additions to any interior and these are very fine examples made using the finest timbers available.
