Mid 18th Century English Walnut Chest of Drawers
SOLD
A Good Mid 18th Century English Walnut Chest of Drawers of Unusually Tall and Narrow Proportions.
This chest has an unusual drawer configuration with two short drawers over four graduated longer ones each with fine and large brass plate handles. The chest stands on four flattened bun feet. Each drawer is veneered in book matched walnut with a contrasting diagonal crossbanding and the timbers have faded beautifully, with plenty of desirable variation in colour.
A typical English chest of drawers tends to be somewhat shorter and wider than this piece, suggesting that this example might have been made for a particular space in the original owner's home. This piece has very good quality veneers and maintains a wonderful colour and patination.
H 118cm x W 98cm x D 50cm
