Small 19th Century Teak Campaign/Military Chest of Drawers
An Unusual Small Campaign Secretaire Chest of Drawers in Teak, Early 19th Century.
This piece of furniture was designed in the campaign style, it was made to be easily transportable so that it could be used either in a military context in an officer's tent or on board a ship. The piece breaks down in to two sections for ease of packing and is of tall and narrow proportions. The top drawer front is false and conceals a secretaire with writing section, small drawers and pigeon holes, ideal for handling correspondence on campaign. There are also a number of secret compartments.
The external handles on the front of the piece are all flush fitted, and there are reinforced metal mounts to all vulnerable areas, adding to the durability of the piece. There are heavy duty carrying handles, not recessed, to the sides.
