19th Century English Regency Rosewood Card Table

A Beautiful English Regency Period Rosewood Card Table, Suitable as a Small Side Table.
The table, with its baize lined top, is of D shape. The design first appeared in England at the end of the 18th century but the turned gun/cannon barrel legs on our example, mean that this piece dates from the early 19th century c.1800-1810. The table is principally veneered in rosewood of very fine figure and of a faded colour. The top has a wide crossbanding of satinwood. The frieze has inlaid rectangular blocks and inlay of satinwood with contrasting darker woods. Standing on tapering legs with turned collar detailing.
This piece is has excellent quality veneers, exceptional colour and the very fine proportions. The double gate leg action which supports the top is also a very good sign of quality.
