A 19th Century English Demi Lune Satinwood and Mahogany Side/Console Table.
This fine table has an overhang on the back of the top which was designed to cover a dado rail in the house for which it was made. The projecting edge at the back is mirrored in the correspondingly large satinwood border with a strip of ebonised stringing.
The same combination of mahogany, ebonised stringing and contrasting satinwood panels is used throughout. There is a drawer hidden in the centre of the frieze. Supported by square tapering legs with ebonised stringing. Standing on spade feet. The proportions are elegant and slim.
