19th Century English Regency Period Rosewood Sofa Table
A Sophisticated 19th Century English Regency Period Rosewood and Brass Inlaid Sofa Table with Lions' Head Castors.
This interesting table was clearly made by a fashionable cabinet maker in the regency period, with exotic rosewood veneers in combination with very fine quality brass inlay. The table is of the classic rounded rectangular form with splayed end supports and a finely turned stretcher. The brass inlay work is employed to the front and sides of the end supports, as stringing around the top and on the frieze. There are two drawers in the frieze.
The rosewood veneers used throughout this piece are of excellent quality and are particularly well matched on the top. The top has a wide crossbanding.
