19th Century French Mahogany Guéridon/Centre Table
SOLD
A Mid 19th Century French Mahogany Guéridon or Centre Table with Original White Marble Top.
This fine piece has a nicely drawn quadripartite base and four knurled claw feet. The base supports an outspreading reeded central column with banded detail leading to a a finely veneered frieze with original white marble top with attractive veining and moulded border.
The guéridon or centre table was a staple of French furniture during the 18th and 19th centuries but this is a particularly attractive example with plenty of details to catch the eye. The marble top is also particularly nice and yet also a neutral colour, meaning that it will not detract from any objects displayed on top of it if it is used in that way.
A practical and useful piece of grand French furniture.
