Early 19th Century Italian Painted Sofa

An Early 19th Century Italian Blue and White Painted Sofa or Settee of Excellent Shape and Form.
This attractive sofa retains much of its original blue and white or cream paintwork which has aged very nicely. It is of interesting form, the arms sweeping in towards the body and creating an alcove effect. It stands on eight legs, which are perfectly arranged and make the piece sturdy and well balanced both visually and practically. The sweeping curves of the arms and back contrast beautifully with the square tapering legs and spade feet and the paint scheme is subtle and elegant. There is a carved cresting to the back rail, some fine leaf carving to the ends of the arms and turned paterae where each leg joins the frame.
Upholstered to an under finish, ready for the next owner's choice of fabric or could be left as is for a contemporary aesthetic if preferred.
